The gorgeous Thyme Garden venue is the perfect spot for a ceremony and celebration: it boasts glorious garden views alongside a forest canopy-feel. There is a sweet little house to get ready in, with pink walls and a vintage-feel and the reception area is on the edge of the woods, in a grassy nook and is ready to become whatever you want it to be on your big day…

At the gardens, they have 600+ different types of herbs and hops available for purchase and they host weddings and luncheons during the summer months

The Thyme Garden, in Alsea, is a family operation in the beautiful country side of Oregon, just outside of Corvallis—link to google map HERE

This sweet couple had an incredible day at Thyme Garden: the summer weather was perfect and basked under an August sky until the moon came out and they retreated to campsites on the property.

This couple got ready in the little house onsite and it was such a magical little place to do put the dress on and do the the finishing touches and then they did their first look at the edge of the forest…

These two brought in a ton of their own special touches—from buckets of flowers for guests to make into bouquets, to handmade flags strung above the reception area, they created sweet little vignettes all over the property.

The food that is served for weddings is very special — the family who runs the business creates a gorgeous spread for guests that can including amazing fresh salads and sauces and fresh pieces of smoked salmon, cooked over open fires.

The ceremony site this couple chose looked into the forest and was a perfect, whimsical spot for their heartfelt vows to be shared.

PLACES TO TAKE PHOTOS AT THE THYME GARDENS

There are so many amazing places to take photos at The Thyme Gardens and you should set aside some time to wander and shoot adn explore all the gorgeous vignettes

THE FOREST: the gardens are surrounded by beautiful trees and pathways and mossy canopies; it is a beautiful spot to shoot

THE FIELDS: in the surrounding area, there is a wide open meadow with fields and open space and we had a great time shooting in this spot—the grass had some left over flowers and the sun was perfect at golden hour

THE GARDEN: the garden is my favorite and in August, there were so many beautiful things growing and so many colors to photograph; there is a cute little greenhouse and little pathways that make for a magical walk for the couple

CEREMONY VIBES

These two had a gorgeous ceremony, included family members and readings and everyone was in tears the entire time.

They included this beautiful reading by Margaret Atwood in their ceremony:

HABITATION

Marriage is not
a house or even a tent

it is before that, and colder:

the edge of the forest, the edge
of the desert
                    the unpainted stairs
at the back where we squat
outside, eating popcorn

the edge of the receding glacier

where painfully and with wonder
at having survived even
this far

we are learning to make fire

RECEPTION STYLE

This reception was very DIY: the bride made all the things and had people make cookies and help put together table settings.

The twinkle lights make for a gorgrous ambiance when the sun goes down

THE MAGIC THAT IS THE THYME GARDEN

This spot is special. Its family-owned and you can feel it.

I loved shooting here and making art with this couple and byt he end of the night, I didnt want to leave.

I thought about just camping out or sleeping in my car so i could enjoy the magic for a bit longer, but I said goodbye to the moon hanging low over the valley and make the trek back to Portland with the afterglow of summer still refelcting in my mirror.
