The Ruins At The Astor Astoria Wedding

Astoria is one of my favorite coastal towns in Oregon. It has everything: beautiful ocean views, great places to grab breakfast or dinner, sea lions and places to eat oysters AND it’s a quick drive to the beach. I have loved weekend getaways to Astoria from Portland and whenever i come to the sweet little town, i always find something new.

I love grabbing a bakery breakfast at Blue Scorcher Bakery & Cafe and afterwards, heading over to to Godfather’s Books for a browse and espresso and then maybe a burger at Coastal Smash or some pub food at Fort George Brewery + Public House.

As a Portland Wedding Photographer, I was so excited when Tim and Emily asked me to photograph their spring wedding at The Ruins at the Astor, in downtown Astoria. Its an incredible venue that used to be a vintage and home goods store back in the day. Now they do events in this space and it is truly as unique as it gets, from the beautiful tiled floor to the views from the pink-walled rooms on the second floor, this place is special. Having a Ruins at the Astor Wedding is going to be like none other.

Tim and Emily got ready at the Norblad Hotel and at the Astor Suites, which is located directly above the venue and also owned by the Norblad. Both hotels boast views of the water and they are light filled and modern; the perfect getting ready spot, not to mention they are incredibly convenient to the Ruins at the Astor.

The bridal party brought out dried flowers and sound bowls, for the full wedding day affect and everyone was able to look down at the city below, the ocean fading into the sky.

Tim and Emily had the sweetest first look up in the beautiful ruins of the upstairs at the Astor, and we watched the rain pour outside: a perfect Spring day. It was all the pink frescoed walls and remnants of sea green wallpaper…

And then they had a magic ceremony as the rain continued on outside: the sweetest vows, lots of happy tears and so many beautiful words exchanged. The Ruins was such a gorgeous place to take photos, and the wedding was beautiful against the backdrop of the big windows.

After the ceremony, the party was ON. We took bridal shots against the pink walls and we even managed to step outside into the rain to get some photos of these two running around the streets of Astoria, newly married.

The reception was filled with all the love and toasts and dancing and drinking. The Ruins is such an amazing venue if you want a unique coastal venue!
