Lake Pend Orielle Sandpoint Family Photos

Lake Pend Orielle is a magical place in northern Idaho. The Lake is gigantic, perfect for swimming, boating, paddle-boarding, dock-jumping and afternoon floating. Across the lake are thick forests that rise up into mountains and often you will see eagles riding the wind above the tops of the trees. The sunsets are glorious and the mornings are peaceful and I can say without a doubt that it is one of my most favorite places on earth.

As a Sandpoint Family Photographer, I was so excited to get to capture this amazing family on Lake Pend Orielle at sunset: they ran across the lawn and climbed trees; they jumped into the cool lake and pushed each other off the dock. They rose wave runners and rolled down grassy hills and played in the forest by the water.

I love sunset shoots on the lake because the light is something otherworldly; the sun dropping low behind the mountains and making the entire world glow. When the light was just perfect, this family hopped onto their gorgeous wooden boat and it was like a scene from a dream .

Family photos are the best when kids (and pets) are just allowed to run free—and run free these ones did. Surrounded in the beauty of Idaho wilderness, these photos capture just a little slice of the stunning shores of Pend Orielle.
