this little family at home on a sunlit day with their pup, some bed jumping and lots of cuddle piles. i love photographing families at home: it tends to be where families are most comfortable, where they can be themselves and where they have space to move and play in their own environment. sessions at home reflect people in the place they are most at ease and its a magical thing to look back at a photo from 20 years ago and be able to see what objects were in your home, what art you had on your walls, how your space FELT. even if homes are small or dark, we can always find a corner of light to shoot in and we can always use outdoor spaces as well: porches, backyards and gardens make great backdrops for shooting. when i photograph families, i always offer the option of a home session first and sometimes, people haven’t even considered shooting in their own space because they think their space is too dark or cluttered but we can always make it work and people are overwhelmingly happy with the results <3
